Welcome to the Zlatı Lev (Golden Lion) Hotel - one of the most significant dominant features of the City of Jablonec nad Nisou.
The foundations of the existing Zlatı Lev Hotel complex were laid by Christian Elgert as early as in the second half of the 17th century and the building was expanded and the courtyard constructed, thus confirming the prosperous nature of "inn keeping at that time.
Even though the building did not remain within a single family, its original use remained unchanged, as each of the buildind´s owners had the same business inclinations and opprtunities. Among them was the businessman and artist, Adolf Hûbner (23.5. 1857), who is also credited with having established the garden.
The southern wooden section was preserver until 1919. A fundamental change in the building´s appearance dating from 1935 reflected the overall concept of the city´s development. Despite the fact that the plan to expand the hotel´s facilities to include a concert hall did not take place, the characteristic hand-written document of the architect, Robert Hemmrich, who moulded Jablonec nad Nisou into its remarkable appearance of a modern city at the beginning of the twentieth century, has been preserved.
In the final decade of the twentieth century, the Golden Lion Hotel underwent two highly significant events. Firstly, a plan to reconstruct the hotel was approved of the complex, that being the classicist annex.
Then, in the final year of the twentieth century, something transpired, which was of fundamental importance for the Golden Lion Hotel. It was purchased by a local Jablonec company, which decided to repair and reconstruct the hotel and to bring it back to life.
And so, after slightly less than two years, not only the inhabitants of the City of Jablonec nad Nisou can once more enjoy the Golden Lion´s hotel and restaurant services.
The current, essential reconstruction has fully respected the preserved original section of the building. It has sensitively connected the expressional aspects of bygone eras with contemporary modern lifestyle trends. As such, it remains a unique document of the architectural development of the City of Jablonec nad Nisou.
